Came across this blog which, I thought was pretty cool, called 1Month1Charity. No prizes for guessing what they do and when they do it.
A request for donations is sent at the start of each month, and then used for one selected charity organisation.
A snapshot of the receipt and goods bought is then photographed and posted. Just so you know it is not a scam, there is a name list of donors and the amounts donated, along with pictures of the charity/home.
(I had a quick think about it and thought you cannot be anymore transparent than that on a blog...)

I didn't see any pictures of the person behind it, but from what I gather, it was started in remembrance of a certain Mr Lai Chin Lun.
I salute these faceless guys. Your giving warms my heart.
